What's New at Blue!
Blue Mountain has worked diligently throughout the Spring, Summer & Fall, making significant improvements to enhance our guest’s experience. The $8-million renovations create greater opportunities for Blue Mountain to fulfill its mission of providing a premier recreational experience.
The 2014 revitalization project brings many enhancements to Blue Mountain’s Summit and Valley amenities. Slopeside Pub and Grill has expanded to include year-round and indoor accommodations with 450 additional seats and a large outdoor deck. The Summit Lodge has been renovated to improve guest spaces, such as, lockers, restrooms, boot changing areas and guest services. The True Blue Mountain Sports Store has been relocated next to the Summit Rental Shop and the Tuning Shop has been moved down to the Valley Lodge. The Tuning Shop will continue to feature the Montana Challenge MAX automated ski & board tuning machine. The Valley Lodge has been expanded to enhance the retail store and rental shop’s presence. Blue Mountain is eager to reveal their finished product this 2014-2015 winter season.
In addition to Blue Mountain’s advancements, the Learning Center has been relocated to the Valley and has added new programs that will cater to children and adults. The new 7,443 square foot Children’s Learning Center, named The Frontier Center, will provide a safe and secure learning area for ages 4 to 12. Seven days a week, the Frontier Center offers a 2-hour Explorer session or 6-hour Trailblazer session with lunch. Parents can also enroll their child in the Pioneer Program, a 4-week or 8-week session that is available on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings. The Valley Learning Center is dedicated to ages 13 and older. New to this year’s program will be the use of three ascending carpet lifts that will support students as they reach the top of Blue Mountain. Each of the lifts will take the student to a higher terrain at their own pace as their ability improves. The Valley Learning Center is opened seven days a week.
Once again, Blue Mountain has expanded its state of the art snowmaking system with, a new pump house, six new pumps, replacing aging pumps and increasing our pumping capabilities by 1600 gpm. A new state of the art automated pump control system, able to control our over 14,000 gpm water capacity, and upgrades in our water main network. Blue continues to be the leader in snowmaking automation and capacity on the East Coast.
Blue Mountain is introducing a new trail, called Yeti. It is located just off of Burma Road. This trail is perfect to introduce beginner skiers & riders to terrain park features, as this will be the easiest of our six terrain parks. The trail sits on a gentle slope so beginners are invited to test their skills on these small-scale, green-features before moving onto our more challenging blue & black terrain parks.
Using RFID ticket and gate technology, Blue Mountain will now be offering only two types of lift tickets; a six hour lift ticket and the ever popular night ticket. Our ticket technology allows our guests to purchase a lift ticket for a six hour period of their choosing and the clock does not begin to run until their first lift ride scan through. This will eliminate guest having to rush to make it onto the slopes or worrying about missing a few hours of a ticket session.
Our 21-lane tubing park uphill capacity has been greatly improved with the addition of a second 450 ft. surface carpet lift. This means that less wait time and more tubing runs are in store for our guests this winter season!
