Inspiration Abounds at Camelback Mountain Resort

TANNERSVILLE, PA – The Stars of Tomorrow, an adaptive ski camp for 5-18 year olds with physical disabilities, will be at Camelback Mountain Resort, February 5-8, 2013 for the 19th consecutive year. The camp is open to first-time skiers as well as seasoned skiers that want to continue to improve their skiing. Just as any other kids’ sports camp, the focus is on the sport, but the camp also gives these determined kids so much more. The kids develop independence, confidence and fitness throughout the week, and most importantly, they meet kids in similar situations and learn from each other.

“This is my fourth winter working with this amazing group of kids and instructors—and each year I am more and more impressed. I love to meet the campers on the first day and then watch them progress and build confidence as the week passes,” said Megan McHugh, Director of Public Relations at Camelback Mountain Resort. McHugh continued, “These kids prove that with some hard work and determination, anything is possible.”

At the conclusion the campers will be prepared to race in the Diana Golden Race held on Saturday, February 9th at 10am. The Diana Golden Series is an introductory alpine ski racing series for children and adults of all ages with physical disabilities. The two Giant Slalom races are the camper’s first step towards qualifying for the Paralympic Games.

The Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports (PCAS) provides lifestyle and competitive sports for people with disabilities. For over 20 years The Center has been improving the lives of people of all ages by promoting healthy lifestyles for people with disabilities.
