MERCERSBURG, PA – After a long cold winter, spring has sprung and Whitetail has begun preparations for their 2014 Summer Camps for kids, teens, and families.
The resort offers a multi-adventure day camp, the Kid’s Adventure Camp, for campers 7-12 years of age. This week-long camp will be offered twice this summer; July 14-18 and July 28-Aug 1. Campers will gain new skills through challenging, educational, and fun activities based in the great outdoors.
Throughout the week, campers will learn skills in archery and air riflery, basic kayaking, fishing and fly fishing, ropes course initiatives at Cedar Ridge Adventures, techniques in digital photography, and basic wilderness survival and plant identification. They will also enjoy relaxing and swimming by the lake, and of course, making new friends.
On Thursday night, the camp offers an optional overnight camp out for the campers. During the day the campers will build their own fortress with 3-4 other campers out of materials they find in nature. That night they will test their building against the elements and sleep in their very own creation. During the camp out, the campers will also get to spend time enjoying the classics around a camp fire.
Whitetail’s famous Epic Adventure for teens 13-16 is back. Campers will spend 5 days and nights traveling through the region’s most well known resources. The group will kayak under Burnside Bridge in Antietam National Battlefield, bike 40 miles on the C & O Canal, and hike the Tuscarora Trail, all while sleeping under the stars and cooking their own meals. This multi-facet adventure focuses on individual growth, group cohesion, resource awareness, and just plain fun!
New this year Whitetail is offering a unique camp for the whole family. A weekend long paddling trip will take you on the beautiful upper Potomac River to enjoy 3 days of paddling and riverside camping. Paddle, camp, and relax with your family while enjoying the sounds of nature.
