Safety on the Slopes

Staying safe on the slopes is key to having an enjoyable winter adventure. The Skier's Responsibility Code is a set of guidelines that apply to both skiers and snowboarders to help everyone have fun while being considerate of others. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned pro, familiarizing yourself with the Code is an important first step. The tips cover everything from maintaining control of your speed and direction to using chairlifts safely. We recommend reviewing the full Code below and visiting the interactive safety website, linked below, to learn more about responsible skiing and riding. After all, the mountains are meant to be explored - safely! For your convenience, the full Skier's Responsibility Code is included on this page.

  4.  Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
  5.  You must prevent runaway equipment.
  6.  Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
  7.  Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  8.  You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
